Start with Why

How great leaders inspire action

Quote of Today

"Love the life you live. Live the life you love."

— Bob Marley

☀️ Oh my. Another beautiful day. Happy Sunday!

So…

We started this newsletter because we realized the importance of small improvements.

It is our mission to help you get closer to achieving your goals.

But we realized something… We don't know what your goals are!

So if you have 30 seconds please let us know.

If you could be 37x better at anything this year what would it be?

⚡️Focus of Today

Have you ever taken a moment to think Why it is you do what you do? Simon Sinek explains that your WHY is your purpose, cause or fundamental belief. It's the driving force behind all that you do. Your HOWs are the actions you take to bring your WHY to life. Your WHATs are what you deliver. Sinek shows this in the "Golden Circle" below:

Golden Circle from Start with Why

  • Why: Very few people or companies can clearly articulate why they do what they do

  • How: Some people and companies know how they do what they do.

  • What: Every single person or company on the planet knows what they do.

What's the value in starting from the inside out? Put simply, it helps us understand why we do what we do and how much more we can achieve if we remind ourselves to start everything we do by first asking why.

This week's golden nuggets:

  • Only when we know why we do things, will we feel a sense of belonging and motivation.

  • Your decisions should be consistent with your Why

  • You need a dream, but have a plan. Achievement is what you do, but success is your Why.

We would love to hear from you, what do you think of this framework?

📖 Content Feature

Tim Ferriss is an educational activist, entrepreneur, and is most famous for his book titled "The 4-Hour Workweek". Tim interviewed more than 100 "world class performers" in diverse fields on their advice for success and put all in this book. Kinda sounds like our newsletter, don't you think?

Tim has interviewed everyone from celebrities to biochemists to athletes, for his podcast. This book is filled to the brim with golden nuggets, so we'll do our best to grab a handful and include them below:

  • "If the pursuit of excellence was easy, everyone would do it. In fact, this impatience in dealing with frustrations is the primary reason that most people fail to achieve their goals." (Coach Sommer)

  • "If you want an average, successful life, it doesn’t take much planning. Just stay out of trouble, go to school, and apply for jobs you might like. But if you want something extraordinary, you have two paths: 1) Become the best at one specific thing. 2) Become very good (top 25%) at two or more things." (Scott Adams)

  • "If you can't generate 10 ideas, generate 20. This exercise is for developing your idea muscle and confidence for creativity on demand. For an example of the type of lists you could generate here out the link here " (James Altucher)

Have a lovely rest of your Sunday, and see you all next week. ❤️

With love,

— Amir and Erik
