⚡️ Ted Talk Summary of the Week
45,700,000....
That is how many people have heard Sam Berns's powerful story ❤. Sam was born with a rare genetic disease that made living a "normal" life extremely difficult. Despite seemly insurmountable challenges, he always had dreams, ambitions, and a happy life. We learned a lot from his story.
Sam's Golden Nuggets:
Be okay with what you can't do, because there is so much you can do. Can't do something? Find another way. Sam worked with engineers to develop a specialized harness to play the snare drums in a marching band. He worked around obstacles in a creative way, he did not lose hope and was willing to ask for help.
Surround yourself with people you want to be around. Sam felt the best when he is with the people he cared about, and cared about him. Appreciate and love family and friends as they will always produce a positive impact.
Keep moving forward. Sam always had something to look forward to in his life. This helped him get through difficult times. He did not waste energy feeling bad for himself, he let it in, accepted it, and moved forward.
"Around here, we don't look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward. opening new doors and doing new things" - Walt Disney

The 40% Rule. When we feel like we are at our limit, that is usually only 40% of what we can give.
Discomfort and challenges help us grow as individuals.
David Gogging's story will inspire and motivate you to dig deeper and not give up when things get difficult.
With love,
— Amir and Erik
